The incumbent is required to have special knowledge of the use of a wide variety of chemicals with appropriate rates, proper application methods, the chemical needed for the targeted plants (weeds) and the results expected within a wide range of geographic landscapes for the purpose of controlling undesirable vegetation. The incumbent is also responsible for keeping an inventory of chemicals (herbicides) which may amount to tens of thousands of dollars of material stored and portions used on a daily basis.This position requires the incumbent to read and understand the label for all products being used and interpret the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for potential hazards and safety precautions requires to ensure their safety and the public's safety while minimizing environmental risk with the use of herbicides.
